I really feel that improv has a powerful therapeutic effect- (provided that you’re learning alongside supportive friendly peers, and being taught by warm-hearted and encouraging teachers- like the Maydays!). In a sense, improve can also be a powerful way (in combination with Buddhist practice) of getting a tiny practical taste of what Buddhists call ‘Insight.’ Improv is an incredibly practical way of touching the reality of impermanence and insubstantiality- because everything you think you are, and everything you think a scene is, can and does change every moment. I’ve found this really shakes lose my own limited fixed sense of who I am. True improvisation means surrendering utterly to the unpredictability of life. It was a fantastic course- and I’d do it again. Nick Diggins, Advanced Long Form 2010
I found the course hugely fun, confidence boosting, a safe place with supportive crowd in which to die laughing, and fall flat with embarrassment. I would say I benefited mostly from stepping out of the safety zone of doing games, and playing scenes. I think the Maydays can not only Improvise but teach. Now that’s clever! Naomi Long, Advanced Long Form 2010
Anyone who is thinking of doing this course – Just do it! What’s the worst thing that could happen? You’ll love it. Well I had a marvellous time! Thank you Rebecca and everyone! Kate Ballard, Advanced Long Form 2010
I had a fantastic group and the teachers all brought their own thing to the course giving it a well-rounded feel. I feel so much more grounded and all aspects of my improv work have improved, especially being able to think “on the spot” better. The course has been fab... extremely well organised, gave us all heaps. Thank you! Sue Pullen, Advanced Long Form 2010
As usual I loved doing the gig and all the anxiety melted away once it started. I want to do more! From my point of view I have leaned something very useful over these past weeks - for me improv is more fun than stand up. John Stock, Advanced Long Form 2010
I definitely felt the course benefited me. I am more confident with the idea of "the game of the scene", and am more fluid and confident with object-work. One of the major benefits was experimenting with a new format and group games. It's given me and my fellow improvisers more confidence to experiment with finding our own form. I heavily recommend your courses to friends, always have and certainly will continue to in future. Taha F-H, Advanced Long Form 2010
The highlight of this course has been furthering my skills and giving me that bit more confidence and understanding of patterns and such like in improvised theatre. Matt Matheson, Advanced Long Form 2010
