It has helped me move out of my comfort zone but because it's so much fun I haven't noticed! after each session I feel happy and energised. Thank you! Maggie Peake, Beginners Course Autumn 2011
I thoroughly enjoyed the course from start to finish. For me it's difficult to pick highlights but i really enjoyed the chance to learn the ropes of improv comedy with people of all kinds of back grounds and different senses of humor, really working as a team. It really helped me to expand my comedy palate and try things i wouldn't ordinarally have done with people who without the course i would not have met and now consider friends. Chris Flynn, Beginners Course Autumn 2011

All the teachers were great. It was fast, fun, challenging and liberating. Mel Arora, Beginners Course Summer 2011
I am more confident with what I have to say enjoy laughing at myself. Amanda White, Beginners Course Summer 2011
All of it was good and it was a very friendly environment to learn this kind of thing. It’s definitely helped me to come up with ideas on the spot more easily. It will enable you to be funny on the spot! Sam Morrell, Beginners Course Summer 2011
The highlight for me was just being silly. I now feel more able to be spontaneous, to respond authentically to other people. Vivien, Beginners Course Summer 2011
Beginners Course Brighton, New Year 2011
Learning improv with the Maydays feels like the most spoiled I've been in years. Having a world-class award-winning company on your doorstep is an ace that not many people are dealt, so you're going to have to ask yourself whether you want to pass up the opportunity to learn the black magic of improv comedy from true masters of the art. Do you? No, I didn't either – and thank God, because it turned out to be one of the best experiences of my life so far. Whether you want to gain confidence, learn how to be funny, figure out new ways of being creative, meet amazing new people, or just fancy dumping your life for a couple of hours a week and laughing your socks off, I'd highly recommend it – and get booked up quick because they always sell out. A profound and life-changing experience. Massive great thanks. I loved the course so much, I'm planning to go and train in Chicago. I've gone from absolute novice to improv-mad in a couple of months. I've yet to find a more effective drug, and I've turned into both an addict and a pusher. You must do this course – it feels amazing and will make you look cool. Go on – try some... Nicola Tann, Beginners Course New Year 2011
Really fun course! Thoroughly enjoyable and allows you to completely escape from the mundanities of everyday life to a world of craziness, wackiness and laughter. Interesting range of exercises. Really looking forwards to intermediate as I still feel I have a hell of a lot to learn. James Bradley, Beginners Course New Year 2011
Liz and Rebecca, our teachers, were fab! Spending 2 hours each week with a great mixture of people I am chuffed to now call my friends. The workshop space was great. Top marks! Dave Hartley, Beginners Course New Year 2011
I loved the people, the games, the diversity, the teachers and jumping straight into it all. The saying yes and going for it. Super fun! Emma Castiel, Beginners Course New Year 2011
Thank you for the AMAZING course, had so much fun and loved every minute of it, and the buzz I got from the show was incredible!! Alex Jones, Beginners Course New Year 2011
Well what can I say? I've gone from stuttering when introducing myself to the group in the first week to competing with them for attention on the stage of our first sold-out live performance! The course tutors (Rebecca and Liz) were brilliant and put everyone at ease instantly. There was never any pressure so you could get up and participate in as many or as few games as you wanted, and it was just as much fun to watch as it was to perform! Having never done any previous acting before, my confidence grew and grew throughout the course and I had so much fun that it soon become a highlight of my week! I can't recommend this course enough; You'll make lots of new friends and every week you will leave brimming with confidence and slightly sore cheeks from all the laughter! Chris Emerson, Beginners Course New Year 2011
Really fun course! Thoroughly enjoyable and allows you to completely escape from everyday life to a world of positivity, wackiness and laughter. It's a great confidence builder, and opened up a pandora's box of improv comedic ideas, games and laughter and gave me a new way of seeing everyday life. James B, Beginners Course New Year 2011
My expectations were exceeded both in terms of the course itself and my own response to it. I was immediately challenged to beyond my comfort zone - and I loved it! I enjoy trying many different things, but this was certainly one of the best things I've ever done. The course has taught me not to be afraid to look stupid (and therefore not look stupid!), and how to throw myself unselfconsciously into scary situations. The euphoria coming away from the class is addictive - I'm coming back for more! Thank you Rebecca and Liz - for your energy and support Dave Hartley, Beginners Course New Year 2011
Beginners Course Lewes, New Year 2011
Really fun! I liked the character work the best. Doing improv has helped me learn how to cover for things that go wrong and I've got more confidence generally in my humour. Harrison Pryor-Billington, Beginners Course New Year 2011
I loved all of it - getting to know people and great games. I now find it easier to be quick and witty. It was lots of fun and really enjoyable - definitely worth it. Harvey Cash, Beginners Course New Year 2011
Heather and Rebecca always went the extra mile for us - never less than inspiring, encouraging and fun all the way through. My other highlights were the diversity of the games and working and preparing for the show. I was never one for learning lines so this course provided me with the opportunity to express my desire to hit the stage and go with it! I feel better within myself now that I am satisfying my hidden appetite for performing. You must try this if only once, really - have fun and give it what you have got. It's a great way to re-energise, be creative, and to meet an dwork wiht people that you wouldn't perhaps normally meet. Marcus Hicks, Beginners Course New Year 2011
As well as the performance at the Lewes Arms, I particularly enjoyed any of the commentating activities, the cheesy adverts and anything involving daft machinery. The course has made me think more about other people on stage and how dependent we all are on each other. Beyond improv comedy, I feel a great deal more confident about facing an audience as ‘myself’, i.e. not as a character in a play. Go along. Have fun. Be unprepared for anything.” The course was well-paced, encouraging and unthreatening – and enthusiastically delivered. Nick Cooper, Beginners Course New Year 2011
Heather and Rebecca were such great trainers. Personaly, the thing for me was spending a wonderful evening each Thursday night immersed in laughter and creativity. The kind of creativity that comes out of abandonment and being in the moment. I found it all very inspiring and energising. I'm not interested in performing, I'm not that clever or funny (though I know Improv is not about this). I do like the idea of Improv being a part of everyday life and not being confined to a stage, or performer/audience relationship - the subtle and the surreal in life is funny! Doing Improv is for me leaving my comfort zone, abandoment, being present in the moment and embracing whatever arrives Peter Phillips, Beginners Course lewes

I now have the confidence to wing it without a script and play off the offers of others. A lovely group, and great venue. David Moon, Beginners Course Autumn 2010
Beginners Course Spring 2010
It’s a great experience, an excellent way to spend a couple of hours each week with other people. Great to just laugh and have tears in your eyes watching your course mates. An interesting path of self discovery and of course wonderful tutors! Do it, I think every one should at least have a go at improv. Stephen Davies, Beginners Course Spring 2010
It is loads of fun and a great way to try your hand at improv. Don't worry about 'being funny about 'being funny' - you'll be funny when you're least trying to be. Finally thanks for being great tutors...setting everything up, keeping things pacey, supportive and encouraging. Plus very funny! Ali Hinchcliffe, Beginners Course Spring 2010

Beginners Course, Spring 2009
My favourite thing about the course was once a week being both excited and scared (in a good way) about going into class and then spending hours playing in a safe and delightful environment. The warm ups are fantastic and never fail to get me in the mood, even after rubbish sleep and a crappy day! My intention in doing the course was to feel more comfortable and more creative in my improvisation work, with the aim of improving my auditioning and rehearsing. This has certainly happened, but more so than I was expecting. Not only am I braver and more creative, but I am altogether freer and less self-conscious during auditions. Now I just go for it, and have fun! Thank you so much for a wonderful 11 weeks. I've gained so much from this experience. Nicola Dane, Beginners Course 2009
I was expecting a kind of easy going hobby version of Who's Line Is It, with a very laid back attitude. What we got, of course, was a professional level Improv course, where we were expected to show total commitment and perform well and of course, we did. I've never met two more dedicated people in my life. In the whole of the course, there wasn't one minute where I felt that you were less than 100% committed to us, and to your craft, and especially committed to us performing superbly and enjoying it. It was just such a pleasure to experience that. What did I gain? Just about everything. Life sparkles now. If you want something sensible that you can quote, I'd say that I was shocked by how rigid I was, and that I learned to be more flexible and innovative in many different ways. I use things I learned in the course almost everyday. And its true...I'm doing an hours totally improvised talk in a couple of weeks time, and I've integrated lots of your stuff into my training. Ian Jones, Beginners Course Spring 2009
I gained confidence in doing funnies in front of groups of people. My attention span has also improved massively. And I have found something I love doing. The whole course was taught with a good sense of fun and humour, but feedback and tips were given in just the right balance to give us the freedom to experiment, but with advice and direction when needed. I am normally quite good at finding at least some flaws or shortcomings in things generally but I can't in this case! Thanks a lot for everything, hope this helps, and roll on level 2 and beyond... Joe Kingston Lee, Beginners Course Spring 2009
I didn't know what to expect when I signed up for the improv course, but I knew I wanted to do something different and challenging...so what can I say? On the very first lesson I laughed so hard I actually cried, and this wasn't just confined to that first lesson! The whole course was a rollercoaster of fun, fear, challenge, confusion, growth, insanity and genius. It taught me about being in the moment and just how often I am 'in my head'. It also taught me it's ok to just let go and trust in things happening instead of trying to plan everything in advance. I would like to say that Rebecca and Heather are excellent teachers and made each evening a lot of fun. I can be quite a shy person but this course really brought me out of myself and the show definitely gave me a lasting boost of confidence. I can't think of anything I'd change about the course for future students, it felt a very polished course. Tristan Bristow, Beginners Course Spring 2009
The course felt like being in hot bath after a particularly hard game of rugby. Painful and challenging to get in but warm, cosy, protecting and most rewarding the more you stayed there. For me it was a hot bath that never went cold. Feeling like you were part of a group; the, "I got your back," mentality nurtured by your teaching and developed throughout the weeks was amazing. I loved every aspect of being taught the basics, even the singing exercises that I am absolutely rubbish at. Ostensibly I am a lazy person. Being a summer child I am pretty laid back, and this has tended to define me as a person. Lately though, mainly as a result of the course, I have been found to get slightly excited about things and have even pushed myself to do more out of my comfort zone, like a spot of acting or riding a motorbike. They say the more you do, the more you want to do. They are absolutely right. Thanks. Simon Topping, Beginners Course Spring 2009
Beginners Course Spring 2008
Excellent, informal, warm and encouraging, I've absolutely loved it. Thank you. Sarah Powell, Beginners Course Spring 2008

Loved it! Ilhan Yusuf, Beginners Course Spring 2008
I really enjoyed the course and would recommend to anyone! I think it's great for just general confidence, also for practising 'being in the moment' which is something we don't know enough of these days...all great! Julia Knight, Beginners Course Spring 2008
