We are The Maydays - Brighton's masterful, maverick, award-winning improvised comedy company.
We offer brilliant, acclaimed performances and life-changing tuition in improvised comedy - the creation of scenes and songs in the moment with the power to make people laugh. We currently have three mainstage shows - Tonight's Top Story, Confessions and Guest Who! We perform Tonight's Top Story monthly at the Komedia in Brighton. Every performance of Tonight's Top Story is inspired by newspaper articles cut out by the audience just minutes before curtain time. This is improv without tricks, gimmicks or games, just a live, comedic exploration, through scenes and songs, of the secret heart of your city. It is the world only hinted at by your local paper, but finally revealed by the comedic x-ray vision of The Maydays. The Maydays Present: Confessions! takes audience stories and secrets during the show and turns them into improv songs and sketches. It's a brand new show for the Brighton Festival Fringe, and one that sees us return to using much more material directly from the audience. To find out more see the Confessions! page. Our Guest Who show invites a special guest to tell stories from their life based on a word from the audience. These monologues inspire improvised sketches and musical numbers. Previous guests include Jim Bowen (Bullseye), Rob Rouse (Dave's One Night Stand, 8 Out Of 10 Cats), Keith Farnan (Michael McIntyre's BBC Comedy Roadshow), Carl Donnelly (Mock The Week, Russell Howard's Good News) and Carol Cleveland (Monty Python's Flying Circus). See archive material from our Guest Who? run at the Edinburgh 2010 Fringe on the Guest Who? archive page.
