A bit about us

The Maydays have over 15 years experience delivering Improv Training for businesses.  They are also a professional performance company and use the skills developed on stage to bring excitement and experience to teams and individuals in business.  The Maydays improv training is unique and bespoke to you.  We can focus on a specific skill such as communication, flexibility or mindfulness at work, or we can enable a team to bond more closely, break down hierarchies and create better habits at work.  Improv uniquely provides an environment where failure can be practised, embodied and celebrated, where participating is enjoyable and empowering, and where success is measured by trust and support, not by surviving a humiliation test.

Courses in Brighton, London and Worldwide

Dart board with a dart stuck in the bulls-eye

We are not experts in how to run your business.  We are experts in people.  This workshop gives an all round experience into how Improv can help you personally, and how you behave and interact at work.   Improv Training provides a rich environment to develop your communication skills as a whole.  Find out more about our Introduction to Improv for Business workshop here.

Drawing of a man pointing to a whiteboard

Improv and public speaking are very closely linked.  All of our conversations are improvised, and any attempt to stick to a script in a meeting is doomed the moment something unexpected happens. Improvisation also unites a group fast and gets them listening and responding in the moment. Great for getting all the pitch team on the same page, working as one and outshining the competition.  Find out more about Improv Courses for Pitches and Presentations here.

A flexible man doing the bridge pose

In an uncertain world, organisations are seizing the opportunity to build some flex into how people think and work. Developing emotional, physical and verbal dexterity is a way to release potential and to stay cool when faced with the unexpected.  Find out more about Improv Courses for Flexibility and Agility here…

A circle of hands and feet from above

It is our ability to work well with other people that makes us a valuable team member.  Improv Training uses a live, experiential environment to understand what is really happening in a group, rather than a theory based traditional chalk and talk lecture.  Then we can respond to the needs of each group in the moment. Find out more about Improv Courses for Group Dynamics here…

Three people chatting at a restaurant table

Speaking up, fitting in, being heard, picking the moment, formulating your words effortlessly and performing on the spot all become one in this holistic approach to communication skills. There are few ways to practise dealing with the unexpected, these moment just seem to happen to us when we least want them to.  Improv helps us stay calm and still be able to deliver our message or respond effectively in the moment when there is a crisis, or when everything is going just fine!  Find out more about Improv Training for Confidence and Communication here…

A man with a yellow arrow graph behind him

Improv training helps you deal with the different roles you have to play every day at work.  You can experience different situations and find resources you never knew you had.  Find out more about Improv Training for Leaders here…

A woman's face in front of a spiral pattern

Improv practises and uses the skills of listening, leadership and teamwork among many others. These skills heighten collaboration, mutual respect and help to diffuse tension within departments, hierarchies and whole organisations. Great as part of a wider culture change exercise. A woman with her palm upwards with images of thought bubbles around her

Mindfulness is often perceived as akin to a meditative state.  That is a wonderful thing if you have the time and devotion it deserves, but most of our lives are spent in a world of frantic communication and uncertainty. Improvisation demands active mindfulness. It is lively, highly experiential and a very effective tool for raising awareness of yourself and the world around you, allowing you to stay calm in your work and your life.  Find out more about Improv Training for Minfulness and Being Present  here…

A group of business people looking at a laptop screen

Sometimes we all need a little help to feel good about where we are, who we work with and what we do.   Many more traditional training formats can play into our existing insecurities and allow us to just pick the tasks or behaviours that we are most comfortable with.  That is not the way to stay engaged with what we are doing whether it be at work, or in our social lives.  This is a great re-energiser which is full of positivity and energy.  Find out more about Improv Training for Engagement at Work here…

A woman holding up her hand with the index finger and thumb forming a circle

People in organisations should really be able to enjoy themselves. Improvisation taps into the natural and often suppressed joy and happiness we all are capable of exhibiting, even at work.  Whether you are naturally optimistic or pessimistic, improv can lighten your outlook and renew your faith in those around you. Find out more about Improv Courses for Positivity and Happiness here…

A tandem skydive with the plane in the background

It is easy to talk about taking risks.  It is even easy to be seen to take a risk when in fact you are still way inside your comfort zone.  Improv Training lets you put yourself in situations that are unfamiliar and feel risky, and encourage you to find new resources, keep a clear head and still interact with those around you.  It truly is a way of practising taking risks, failing, getting up and failing again, laughing and holding your hands up saying ‘I got nothing’.  In improv, that is a win.   Find out more about Improv Courses for Risk Taking here…

A light bulb with blackboard lines and circles coming out behind

We can frequently feel like we’re not achieving our full creative potential.  We all have the ability, but it can simply get lost it in the pressures of the modern world. We strip away the inner critic, create a safe space, and allow your inner innovator to spring forward.  Find out more about Improv Courses for Creativity and Innovation here…
