Introduction to Business Improv Training

An improvised scene with two people on stage and eight people at the sides with the teacher at the front

Improv Training has far reaching and profound effects on people.  There are as many responses to it as people who do it.  This course is for those wanting to change things up, bond together, explore themselves and try something new.  We will not prescribe the take-outs or tell you how you will feel afterwards as we want to hear that from you.

This course requires no previous experience or skill.  A common misconception that people have before an improv session is that they will have to be quick-witted, funny and confident.  That is simply not true.  Improv allows you to express yourself and how you are feeling in the moment, whatever that may be.

Our goal is to create the right environment to allow people to step outside their comfort zones and realise that is where the real learning and self-development happens.  This is different for everybody and the smallest step forward for one person may represent a huge epiphany for another.  An improv workshop caters for all and our expert facilitators have decades of experience in when to challenge, support and encourage you so that you get the most out of the session as possible.

What to Expect

People sitting clapping and laughing at the Maydays Improv Festival

We use a carefully selected series of exercises, games and experiential training techniques to unite a group and then let them work and play together.  Forget the awkward traditional ice-breakers, improv warms you up and introduces ideas sequentially so that before you realise it the session is over and you are dazed and glowing.

We provide plenty of opportunity for feedback and reflection so that we can get a sense of how the group is responding.  We have a plan of course, but are always prepared to adapt it if the group needs something different.  Improvisation has some clear principles that we will set out and demonstrate before giving you the chance to try them out for yourself.

We run this course over a period of 8 weeks from our own studio in Brighton.  However, you can make use of the CPD hours in smaller periods from 2 hrs if you wish.  Get in touch to find out what will suit your need best.  This course is CPD certified and is available in 2-16 hour sessions which can be over several days as you need.  As one of the only certified Improv courses in the country, you can rest assured that you are getting the highest possible quality training available from the most experienced facilitators.

A woman with her palm upwards with images of thought bubbles around her

Being in the moment is held up as something to aspire to in these times of change.  However, our natural response to the complex situations that we find ourselves in is to think and plan.  For good reason, if we can find a solution to a problem before it is upon us, we can literally increase our chances of survival.  However, what we also need, is the ability to throw the plan away and respond to what is happening in the moment.  No point fighting a lion if we just trod on a snake… Find out more about Improv Training for Mindfulness and Being Present  here…
