Continuation of level 1 of the Maydays shortform improvised comedy courses.
This course will go more deeply into the techniques that make improvisation games fly!
Character, object work, wordplay, physical comedy. Learn more about the kind of games you like and your own improv superpowers.
What can I expect?
- Fun group warm-up games
- Character, object work, wordplay, physical comedy
- Practice exercises in pairs and in groups
- An opportunity to play ‘Whose line is it anyway’ shortform improv games in front of the group
Who is this course suitable for?
- Adults aged 18 – 100
- For those who have taken part 1 of the Maydays intro to improv beginners course or equivalent
- Stand-up comedians, anyone wanting to get into comedy for the first time
- Any human wishing to try improv for the first time or needing a refresher
Min. participants 6, Max. 12.
If we have to cancel the event due to low numbers, we will do this with 24hours notice (and you will receive a warning 48 hours before the course if this looks likely).
It was both terrifying and enormous fun. There’s so much to learn from improv about the art of listening and being present. Looking forward to being terrified again!

When: Monday nights for 6-weeks, from 1st November to 6th December, 7-9.30 pm each week

About your improv facilitator: Jen Rowe trained in acting at ACT Brighton and joined The Maydays in 2006. Since then, she has trained with myriad improv-greats in Europe and the USA. She teaches and performs around the world, and has a special interest in using improv techniques to inspire creative writing.
As an improviser, she also performs and teaches with Impromptu Shakespeare, and plays in the duo Two Seats Four Cheeks (with Mayday, Lloydie James Lloyd). In the past, she’s toured with improvised theatre company, Fluxx, made improvised stage-albums with The Concept, as well as 14 years of shows with the Maydays and numerous street, & interactive, theatre performances.
