About this Event
An ‘IN REAL LIFE’ 12-week refresher course in longform improvisation. For those who have done some longform improv before but are feeling a bit rusty after the long break and want to ease back in.
The Maydays will remind you of techniques to create whole improvised pieces from inspirations like a simple one-word suggestion, a monologue, or even a newspaper article.
Part 1 Scenework edits, Group Mind
When: Tuesday nights for 6-weeks, from 21st September to 26th October, 7-9.30 pm each week
Part 2 Monologues, Montages, Armando
When: Tuesday nights for 6-weeks, from 2nd November to 7th December 7-9.30 pm each week

What can I expect?
- Group warm-up activities and ensemble building exercises
- A refresher in the principles of longform improv
- Practice exercises in pairs and in groups
- An opportunity to create longer improvised pieces
Who is this course suitable for?
- Those with some prior experience of longform improv
- Those who have had a break from longform improv during the pandemic and looking for a supportive environment to return.
- Those interested in a more fluid and theatrical style of improvisation (less comedy and game-based)

If due to covid we can’t run these classes in person, before or during the course, then we will move them online in our improv zoom rooms, with no refunds or credits in this instance.
The Maydays, Liz Peters, trained as an actress at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts before studying improvisation at iO Chicago, and with practitioners from many other improv schools and styles. She performs and teaches improv around the world, playing with The Maydays and Bumper Blyton as well as guesting in productions.
Liz has had an extensive career on stage and screen and was nominated Best Female Performer Award at Brighton Fringe for Toybox, a musical comedy she wrote and produced. She is the creator and host of Unplanned Cabaret, makes live albums with The Concept and is part of European improv collective, Ohana.
In addition to performing, Liz is a host, speaker and a certified Embodied Facilitator. She coaches professional women on public speaking and presence, and her book, ‘Own It! How to boss your fears, free your voice and inspire the room’, is available in print and audiobook. She also shares tips on her YouTube channel ‘Bonafide Human Club’.
As a Maydays improv facilitator, Liz is enhanced DBS checked, holds a QA Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) and mental health first aid.
