About this event
An ‘IN REAL LIFE’ 12-week refresher course in musical improv covering a vast range of singing styles, song structures, exercises and games. For those who have done some musical improv before but are feeling a bit rusty after the long break and want to ease back in.
What can I expect?
- Musical games and exercises
- Building singing confidence
- Singing in a group
- Improvised scenes into song
- Movement work
- Lots of laughter and singing
In this course, we will gently explore different ways of improvising in scene and song both as an individual and as part of a group. With a highly experienced musician present in all your scenes we will sing songs from emotional through to ridiculous.
Who is this course suitable for?
- Those with some prior experience of musical improv
- Confident improvisers or singers happy to jump in
- Those who have had a break from musical improv during the pandemic and looking for a supportive environment to return.
“More exciting and terrifying than white water rafting. Tremendous shared hilarity and a great way to meet lovely talented people. Failure and success become far less important than just having fun. You’ll hurt yourself laughing. With teachers like The Maydays you believe you can do anything.”
“I have tons more confidence than I would ever have expected. I feel much less self-conscious now and have come away with new performing skills.”
