Dave is not Richard Trevithick, the Cornish godfather of steam power, who set off to South America in 1816 to make his fortune in gold mining (his wife must have been pleased when he returned in 1827, having not written home the whole time, with pretty much just the clothes he was wearing). Dave is not Dave’s mate Price, who was in Kuala Lumpur recently and reckons he was offered a threesome with Daddy Freddy. Daddy Freddy was on Record Breakers with Roy Castle back in the early 90s, breaking his own record for world’s fastest rap: 507 syllables in one minute. Dave is also not Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, the reggae producer, who once planted flowers in the engine of his car, and then drove it around till it broke. Dave is an improviser, and he co-runs Excursions, the live rap jam.
