Jules Munns
Jules started improvising while studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he was a member of the now-defunct group the Improsarios. After graduating, he co-founded the Nursery, where he was Artistic Director for over a decade. During that time, he ran the Nursery Theatre, Broadgate as well as the house team, teacher training and applied improv programmes. He directed shows including ‘Happy in their Own Way, ‘The Concept’ and ‘Magicked: the improvised Harry Potter Show’.
As well as performing with The Maydays, Jules directed the first run of Impromptu Shakespeare and is still a cast member. He and Heather have a two-person show called Ten Thousand Million Love Stories, which has toured across the world, from Finland to Pakistan.
As an improv teacher, Jules specialises in scenework, team dynamics and classic longforms such as the Harold, Deconstruction and Armando. He loves to work experimentally and push the boundaries and expectations of the form.
During his time at drama school and soon after, Jules was a 1-2-1 language and cultural awareness trainer for Linguarama, a division of Marcus Evans. He has since brought these skills to his applied improv training, where his clients include Facebook, Google, Unilever, and GSK. His specialist areas include creativity, meeting and presentation skills and flexible leadership.
