Velvet Wells (he/him) is an award-winning, world-beloved multi-faceted creator, facilitator, and community leader living in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. He is the Outreach and Inclusion Manager for The Nursery Theatre and the Director of Operations for the Black Improv Alliance as well as an online teacher for The Maydays/Nursery Theatre Collaboration.
Velvet co-founded both The Dandies, a fandom inspired improv troupe, and OverDude, an improvised rock and roll band. Velvet has created many shows over his improv career. Currently, he produces BIPOC focused ensemble musical improv shows “Crushin It” and “All Request Radio”, and a duo format called “Y’Up”. He also produces the occasional “WordPlay” for those who love improv games.
Velvet continues life long learning through masterclasses with Jill Bernard, Stephen Davidson, John Gebretatose, Natasha Boomer, Ken Hall, Mick Napier, Katy Schutte and Chris Mead, and many more.
