Our 14th Annual Improv Retreat is 2 weeks away! So we’re checking in with our Maydays coming to play this year, next up, is the superb, Jennifer Jordan.

 

What are you most looking forward to at MIR22?

Seeing everyone! I can’t wait to reconnect with the folks I know and to meet new folks I am yet to know. Part of the joy for me is the gathering of improv fans of all levels just celebrating each other and laughing our faces off together. Bring. It. On.

 

What advice would you give to complete newbies to our retreats?

Take breaks! It’s tempting to try and do ALL the classes but believe me you will need to take breaks for yourself. The grounds are lovely and I recommend a stroll. But don’t try to do everything. It’s ok to not do all the things. Your body, mind and emotional state will need some rest x

 

Which Mayday is the messiest to room with?

Though I’m technically no longer an official Mayday, I would say me. After 5 minutes of landing anywhere, I somehow manage to explode my suitcase in about 17 different directions instantly. I’m working on it.


Which Mayday is tidiest to room with?

I’ve only ever bunked with Rhiannon, and she was pretty tidy as I recall. But I imagine Joe to be the tidiest, based on literally no evidence beyond the fact he is a calming influence and I associate tidiness with calmness.

 

Give one stand-out experience from previous years

Doing a rock opera in Hell. It was just so fun and silly, and Liz was an incredible Beelzebub. It was my first retreat, and only my second or third show with the Maydays so I was pretty nervous, but playing with these supportive wonders it was an utter joy.

 

How would you sum up The Maydays retreat experience in 3 words?
