Guest Teacher Announcement!

The Maydays lifering sits in the centre of a black background with text on either side reading: The Maydays 15th Annual Improv Retreat guest teacher, Felipe Ortiz. In the centre of the lifering is an image of Felipe, he has a beard and is holding a hat on top of his head looking downwards, with an open patterned shirt and white t-shirt on.

We are very excited to announce our Guest Improv Teacher for this year’s 15th Annual Improv Retreat, please send a warm welcome to the brilliant, FELIPE ORTIZ!

Performer, director and teacher, Felipe is interested in exchanging, interacting, playing and sharing experiences with different artists around the world. He’s passionate about the body in movement and its possibilities and explores it through acrobatics, improvisation, clowning, physical theatre and object manipulation to create new forms of expression in performing arts.

As a performer he’s been touring around the world since 2003, with different projects in festivals, companies, and collaborating with artists in these areas. Also well-known in the international scene as an impro, physical theatre and clown teacher.

Magical Realism became one of his research fields in 2012 and he’s created different impro formats, workshops and circus shows inspired by this wonderful genre.

Felipe is currently working as a clown, acrobatics and impro teacher at the Javeriana University in Bogota. He has been the artistic director of La Gata Cirko (new circus) for 18 years and has directed and co-directed shows in many different formats from the opening ceremony of the world games in Cali to the closing ceremony of the Football FIFA world cup sub-20 in Bogota, as well as directing all the shows from at La Gata Cirko.

He’s one of the founding members of PICNIC – IMPRO and one of the directors of the impro MONKEY FEST in its 9th version. Also one of the creators of SPEECHLESS an improvised show without words that has been touring in more than 15 countries around the globe.

As if that wasn’t enough, Filipe has recently become a pilates instructor with the “Physical Mind Institute” and has been studying with the Ido Portal and Marcello Pallazzo online movement training program.

So with such a packed schedule, we are delighted that Felipe has found the time to join us for our 15th annual improv retreat at Ashorne Hill in the Warwickshire countryside for 3 days of utter joy!

We’ve only a handful of places available, so grab your spot today to join The Maydays and Filipe Ortiz for what will be a magical experience for all involved.
