Business Improv Course: Essential Skills

Two people in an improv scene with five people watching

Many people across the UK and the world use improv classes as a way to de-stress from their lives, reconnect to people, build self-confidence and just give themselves the opportunity to play and laugh regularly.  Our years of experience teaching and performing for the general public has brought us into contact with many people from the business world and we started to hear the same message over and over..

‘We could do with some of this in our Business’

We listened and have adapted our improv classes into specific business skills courses.  You can see the full list here.

This ‘essential business skills’ course takes the tenets of improvisation and applies them to the way you behave, think, take risks and support others at work.  You may find that you experience some personal development along the way, but that is what makes Improv Training so powerful.

What to Expect

A group of people standing in a circle doing an improvisation exercise

This course goes a little further and deeper than the Introduction to Business improv course.  Once we have made the group comfortable and in a receptive mood we will take them through a series of exercises, games and techniques to really highlight the value and importance of soft skills in managing business.  This is not a traditional sit and take notes session.  You will be on your feet, challenging yourself and rooting for others to take a step forward and discover something new about themselves.

There is plenty of opportunity to reflect and talk to your fellow participants about what you are experiencing and that helps us to adapt our facilitation to suit the need of the group in the moment.

You will come away with:

  • Greater self-awareness
  • A newfound respect for your colleagues
  • A real sense of achievement, just for showing up and participating
  • More laughter lines than you knew you had.

Drawing of a man pointing to a whiteboard

Improv and public speaking are very closely linked.  All of our conversations are improvised, and any attempt to stick to a script in a meeting is doomed the moment something unexpected happens. Improvisation also unites a group fast and gets them listening and responding in the moment. Great for getting all the pitch team on the same page, working as one and outshining the competition.  Find out more about Improv Courses for Pitches and Presentations here.
